How exercise rejuvenates your mind & body
Did you know that regular physical activity has a healing effect on the human body and brain, allowing it to improve its complex functioning processes. With the help of moderate physical activity, the process of rational cognition of the world is improved and targeted interaction with it is ensured. It's about learning new things. This is expressed in improved perception of information, in its processing and analysis, as well as improved memory and communication skills. Regular physical activity supports brain rejuvenation processes, that is, it literally forces the brain to remain young so that it is easier to assimilate new information.
Scientists have discovered a brain structure that only humans have; it is responsible for fine motor skills and a person’s addiction to nicotine. As the Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News portal clarifies, the results of the study apply to representatives of any age group. At the same time, with age, the positive effect of physical exercise on the body only increases. The study authors asked 132 volunteers aged 20 to 67 years to engage in various sports four times a week for six months. Positive changes were detected in all participants in the experiment, without exception, who strictly followed the load plan.
After the end of the experiment, experts assessed the effect of the exercises on memory: the ability to concentrate attention, goal setting, orientation, organization of activities and control of behavior. At the same time, interestingly, aerobics classes were considered the most effective. “We found that in all participants who performed the exercises, not only did the executive functions of the brain improve, but also the thickness in the outer layer of the brain increased,” explained lead specialist and author of the work, Yakov Stern. Previously, scientists from McMaster University (Canada) proved that physical activity helps older people avoid depression when it comes to systematic and daily simple walking.
There’s immense amounts of information proving great benefits of regular exercise. Having said that, certainly, not all types of are suitable for everyone. Each and everyone should most importantly choose the activities they enjoy, as this is the only way to build up positive habits and ensure progress.
